Two male African-American teens are alleging that they were turned down for jobs at Six Flags Over Texas because of their hair: one had a long braid, one had dreads. They point out that female applicants can put long hair into buns, but for males, there's no option other than to cut the hair. This is an issue of a business' right to enforce a dress code versus individuals' rights and a rapidly changing public culture. It's 2019. What is the point of enforcing a short-hair-for-men edict when customers don't mind a guy with a long braid or dreadlocks working at the park? And if you ban kids with different hair styles in an age when a LOT of kids have them, who's left to hire? It's legal (if there are accommodations for religious or medical reasons), but is is smart business? (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
