The Stop & Shop supermarket chain is a major player in New England, which is why a strike by 31,000 employees over stalled contract negotiations raises a topic for everywhere: If your local grocery has a picket line, do you cross it or find another store? Let's complicate things: What if your prescriptions are at that store's pharmacy? Would you cross then? And what if, as in the L.A. strike a few years ago, ALL of the chains' workers walk out in unity? If there aren't any practical alternatives, where would you go? (Boston Globe)
