You wanna know why so many of the students in the college admissions scandal were stowed away on women's crew squads? Simple: Colleges use crew scholarships to balance football scholarships under Title IX. So there are a lot of them. The question is how women who legitimately row feel about their specialty being used as a convenient place for women who DON'T row to benefit. I mean, you put your heart and soul into a sport, earn a scholarship, and then watch people who've never touched an oar get the same thing you had to work to achieve. (Los Angeles Times)
