But We Can Watch Mike Trout, So We're Good
-
It's been six seasons and we -- a large number of Southern California residents -- still can't watch most Dodger games on TV. Yes, because of Steve Lopez' column in the L.A. Times, we're talking about the deal the team made with Time Warner (now Charter/Spectrum) to put the games on a new channel that required Time Warner to demand huge monthly fees for ALL subscribers to cable systems, whether the consumers wanted the channel or not. Most other systems, including DirecTV, said no. And in some areas, like my town, NO carrier has the games. I can't get them at ANY price (what? VPN? Reddit? Yeah, I know. If I was a Dodger fan, I'd have to resort to those. I'm not). The Dodgers got $8 billion for 25 years, so they don't care. In the annals of sports greed, this is maybe the most epic example.
