'My Bad' Ain't Gonna Cut It
-
This woman was arrested on a warrant for passing bad checks. The cops took her kids, and her employer fired her. But after seven days in jail, they released her, because they'd arrested the wrong person. Mistaken identity. She was innocent. Yet, no apologies, no answers. They wouldn't do anything for days. A mistaken arrest can ruin an innocent person's entire life and there's practically no recourse. If she sues, it's not going to make her whole and any judgement will come from taxpayers' money, not the people responsible. Maybe if the people who made the mistake were made personally liable, there would be more care taken. (Cincinnati Enquirer and WXIX-TV/Cincinnati)
