He's Out Of Their Life (Maybe, Almost)
-
The question should not be whether Gardner Street Elementary School in Hollywood should take Michael Jackson's name off its auditorium, which is what they're voting on this week. It should be about how they let his name be on the auditorium in the first place. Did it really take "Leaving Neverland" to raise concerns? These stories have been out there for many years. By 1989, when they named the auditorium after him, people were definitely talking. For several years, they covered his name up with plywood, but removed the covers after he successfully defended himself in one case. At the very least, the appearance that there might be something to them -- yes, a lot of people, especially his fans, are not convinced anything happened, but the questions were out there -- might have told them that perhaps they should find another person to honor.
