Another Example Of Why Everyone Should Just Delete Their Accounts
-
It's so predictable: Someone posts something terrible on Facebook, he gets caught, and he claims to have been hacked, only to ultimately admit that it was his own doing. In this case, a city employee from Dearborn, Michigan has lost his job for posting a slur against the Muslim Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model. He called her a camel, which is pretty bad. Also, in case you don't know, Dearborn is 46% Arab-American, so if you're going to exhibit Islamophobia, and you work for Dearborn, you have to expect that you're going to lose your job. So it was both racist and intensely stupid, he lied to the police about being hacked, and now he's worried that he's become unemployable and his attorney says he shouldn't have been fired and that it could have been a "great teaching moment" if he could have stayed in his job. Should you get a second chance when you do something that stupid? And initially lied to cover it up? (Detroit Free Press)
