Because Getting Sick Isn't Enough Of A Burden
-
It is true, it is a bi-partisan thing, and it is sad that a teacher who gets sick in California has to pay for her own substitute teacher. That's why this teacher, fighting breast cancer, is seeing her paycheck go to paying for her substitute, and her union and politicians and everyone else just shrugs and says, well, we don't have any money, so this is how we pay for it. And how they pay for it is that teachers get 10 sick days and 100 medical leave days, and during that whole time the system takes money out of their paychecks to pay for the subs. That's not how it should be. But we don't care, because nobody wants to pay teachers what they deserve. (KGO-TV/San Francisco)
