I'd Have Considered The Train, But Whatever
-
A Liverpool fan and his friends wanted to go see the European Cup final in Madrid, but airfare had gone through the roof -- £800 (a little over $1,000). He didn't have that. He DID have another idea: He went and bought a £40 car (that's fifty bucks), and he and his friends drove all the way from Liverpool to Madrid in the beater, which lost pieces of its engine along the way. But the upshot is that it worked -- the car made it there and back, and with a couple hundred pounds' worth of gas, the whole thing cost less for four people to make the round trip than it would have cost for one person to fly.
