You'll recall the tragic, horrific, fatal pedestrian bridge collapse in Miami that killed people in their cars sitting on SW 8th Street. Of course, this led to lawsuits and investigations. There are text messages on the cellphone of the engineer who signed off on the bridge design that might prove critical in the investigation. One small problem: His wife allegedly washed the phone in the laundry and the phone doesn't work, and they don't know if there's an iCloud backup. D'oh! But can't they get those from the cell phone carrier if they get a warrant? (Miami Herald)
