For $3,800, The Author Should Come To Your House And Read It To You
-
It's a little complicated but a good exercise in frustration: Long story short, a student rented a college textbook from Amazon using her dad's debit card, and, because her dad was a few days late in returning it, he got hit with a $3,800 bill. While it was eventually credited back, it took a while and a lot of futile calls and emails, and it's a reminder that a) you shouldn't forget to return rented things, b) you should use a credit card, not a debit card, for such things, and c) wait, $3,800? The book was valued at $3,800? Why? How? I know college texts are insanely expensive, but $3,800? (Philadelphia Inquirer)
