Big Deal, You're Nobody Unless You Own An Indoor Garage Space
-
Many billionaires expect privilege, and so here's a New York billionaire who made himself a special privilege nobody else in New York can claim: his own street parking spot. And while neighbors claim he can't do that and didn't get a permit for it, here's what he did: He took a commercial building, converted it into a residence, and, in front of what used to be the garage door, he simply built his own curb cut as if it's a driveway. And when someone else parks there -- which is legal -- he has his private security run out and threaten them with immediate towing, and if the car doesn't move, security prevails upon a cop to write a ticket for illegal parking so the tow company will take the car. (The billionaire's car, on the other hand, is allowed to park there.) The rich guy says it's perfectly legal to do what he did. If the cops write up others and they get towed, why aren't the neighbors calling the cops when the billionaire's car is parked there? (New York Daily News)
