Like Complaining Would Stop Them
-
It's not just that they charge you for baggage and quietly, without a lot of notice, jack up the fees for no other reason than that they can. It's that they stick you with travel fees and don't disclose them until you've already booked and can't cancel. Resort fees are notorious for that. Most interesting, though, is that few people complain. Let's face it, if you went to a store and bought something that costs $100, and at the register they added not just sales tax but a $20 fee for something you didn't even ask for, you'd complain. Why not travel fees? Because that's why they do it -- there's no pushback from consumers, who just shrug and assume it's the way things are done. (Washington Post)
