Pretty Good Delayed Gratification

She was 14 years old in 1985 when she walked into Disneyland on the park's 30th anniversary and won a free ticket for a future visit. She's 48 now, a teacher in Alberta, and she visited again, with that free ticket in her hand. And they honored it. Of course they did. And they gave her the full ride, including passes for both Disneyland and the adjacent California Adventure (which did not exist in 1985). Quick fact: The ticket was worth $16.50 in 1985, which is $39.20 in present value. The pass she got costs $199. That is an excellent return. Would you have even tried to use the ticket 35 years later? (Los Angeles Times)
