Doesn't it seem like there's been a rash of insanely delayed flights lately? The latest might take the prize: A Delta flight from JFK to LAX ended up delayed for 22 hours, and the passengers were strung along so that they were stuck at the gate waiting in a packed area while the airline kept making excuses for the delay. And the meal vouchers they got were fairly useless because the restaurants in the terminal were all closed in the overnight hours. While it could have been worse -- at least they were in an air-conditioned, relatively safe place with functioning bathrooms -- the airline has to handle these things better, and make the call way earlier that a flight is just not going to go out that night and put the passengers up in a hotel.
