This article is about a debate of sorts regarding a question every teacher asks at the outset of a new school year and which some people feel is a bad idea: "what did you do on your Summer vacation?" The idea is that some kids may have experienced trauma, and asking them to recount it might be psychologically taxing or damaging. Or some kids might hear of kids doing cooler stuff than they did and feel diminished. Is this really a problem area or is it something innocuous that someone's blowing out of proportion? (BBC)
