Controversy at the U.S. Open and in pro tennis in general: The use of bathroom breaks. It's the suspicion that some players are taking the breaks not because they have to pee, but as strategy, to slow down an opponent's momentum, and as an element making matches run very long. Regardless, now that I've gotten older and discovered how aging means more frequent visits to the rest room, I always wonder about pro athletes in sports like, say, basketball, who constantly hydrate but rarely are seen running off the court in a panic looking for a urinal. (There are also football players, some of whom just pee in their pants, but that's another issue.) (New York Times)
