Oh, We Don't Take Deposits. But You Can Have A Nice Latte Here If You Want
-
A Montreal man counted, sorted, and rolled $800 in change and took it to his bank. And the bank would not take the coins. Why? The bank is one of those that have essentially gone cashless; they won't take coins and told him to go find a Coinstar machine (which takes 17% in fees). It's a trend that bank branches aren't for actual banking anymore, with ATMs doing all the work. And it reminded me that... well, when was the last time YOU stood in a queue in a bank branch? How much banking do you do at an actual branch? Because it seems like between apps and websites and debit cards at the grocery checkout, there isn't a lot of need to go to the bank at all. Though it's nice to know they're there.... (CBC)
