Really, A Student In A Fuzzy Costume Would Probably Do The Job Just Fine

Mississippi State University has a live bulldog mascot. Last Saturday, Bully the Bulldog collided with an Auburn player on the sidelines. And so, PETA is calling on MSU to remove and retire the live animal mascot. Wasn't there a dustup between Bevo and Uga last year? Why, yes, there was. So maybe PETA has a point. The animals can't be all that happy to have to stand in front of big crowds of drunk frat boys, and they certainly have no idea what's going on in the games. On the other hand, they get more royal treatment -- private hotel rooms, fine dining, first class transportation -- than the players do. (WCBI-TV/Columbus, MS with video from ESPN)
