Dog owners, a study and a separate meta-analysis in an American Heart Association journal claims, live longer than those without dogs in their lives. It's a 24% risk reduction overall, 31% for cardiovascular-related death and 65% (!) for heart attack survivors. There's the usual question of whether there's really a causal relationship or whether the sample is of people who already have otherwise healthier lifestyles, but you DO end up walking more with a dog, for obvious reasons.
