The Boston Bruins and Celtics' arena, Boston (TD) Garden, got all new seats this season. Nicer? Nah, according to the fans who have attended preseason games so far, the seats are just smaller with less leg room. The Bruins deny that the seats are smaller, but suggested that the perception came from additional padding before acknowledging that there might be a problem. I get that they need to cram more seats into venues to sell more tickets, but I've been a lot of arenas and the leg room and butt room in newer buildings are criminally small unless you spring for club seats. You'd think that these places would be MORE comfortable, but they're not. Some of the old places were indeed uncomfortable, but if you go to the Palestra for a Big 5 game, you EXPECT to have zero room and have someone's knees digging into your back. You expect better from a place built in the last 20 years. (Boston Globe)
