Everybody's Heard About The Bird
-
Meet the white bellbird, deemed the loudest bird in the world. A biologist says that the bird's louder than an eight-lane highway and at the same level as a pile-driver. They're not sure WHY the call is so loud -- it's not to draw the opposite sex for a mating ritual, since the male birds make the call right there in front of the females. Anyway, the question is what nature sounds are the most annoying. I'd go with cicadas, which would keep me awake all night when I lived in Pennsylvania. Although the woodpeckers we have around here can be annoying, too. And the owls. (CBC)
