In a matter of hours Pete Wells' scathing negative review of legendary Brooklyn steakhouse Peter Luger went insanely viral, and what struck me wasn't that he was attacking a legend but that his complaints mirror my reaction to a lot of old-line places that rest on their laurels. Too many places have terrible service, where they act like they're doing you a favor allowing you to breathe their air. Waiters are brusque, glasses go unfilled, and the food quality isn't worth the high prices. What's been your greatest disappointment, restaurant-wise? (New York Times)
