Like They're Gonna Find Anyone Who Can Afford The New Rent
-
Unintended consequences or just unforeseen by the politicians who did it? That's the question about California's statewide rent control law, which has, according to tenants' rights groups, resulted in long-time renters getting 60-day termination notices before the law takes effect on January 1st. Landlords are evidently booting people out of their houses in a pre-emptive move to avoid being frozen on rent increases. Others are just jacking up the rent in advance. That's what happens when the law gives people enough time to dodge it. (Orange County Register)
