Your Life Shouldn't Depend On How Much Money You Make Or Which Insurer You Have
-
You wanna know why I think health care, and health insurance, are even more critical a topic than you think? Meet this guy in Pennsylvania who signed up for one of those new stripped-down cheaper insurance plans enabled by the Trump administration's war on Obamacare and discovered that it wouldn't cover his congestive heart failure and diabetes because they were "pre-existing conditions" EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD THEM. The insurer's fine print basically set up a situation that they could declare anything "pre-existing" if it thinks you should have known you were sick, even if you didn't. It's shameful and it's exploitative and it's American health care in 2019. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
