When Places That Are Younger Than You Are Declared Historic....
-
I've mentioned this place before, but now that Los Angeles County is closer to bestowing historic landmark on a German-themed restaurant and mini-mall called Alpine Village in Torrance, I'll once again point out that a) the place isn't that old -- it's from 1968! -- and b) it isn't at all historic. I WILL give it one thing, though: Management booted some actual swastika-wearing Nazis out of the restaurant, only to have a judge say they couldn't do that. At least they didn't welcome the Nazis with open arms. Anyway, what modern places in your town would go on a list of somewhat dubious "historic landmarks"? (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
