This Should Make You Angry
-
You know how I get when we talk about the price of health care. Now, this: A 19-year-old Type 1 diabetic is lobbying for lower insulin prices, because it's unconscionable that it should cost over $15 per day for something people NEED SO THEY CAN LIVE. And it's REALLY unconscionable that the price is so high not because the companies are making back their investment but because, well, they CAN charge so much. It's not an open market, it's a trapped market -- diabetics have no choice but to buy the stuff so they can survive, and the pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of that by charging as much as they want. If you're against Medicare for All and all for the "it's your problem" school of thought on health insurance and health care, you aren't in the position of having a chronic and serious health problem. And you don't care about people who, through no fault of their own, do. (WTSP-TV/St. Petersburg-Tampa)
