Though If It Does, Maybe I'll Finally Get To Sit Next To An Empty Seat

Could flight shaming, already a thing in Europe where Greta Thunberg has popularized it, take hold in America? The airlines are nervous, but there are factors present here that don't exist in Europe, mainly that our population centers are way more spread out. If you're in London and have to go to Paris for a meeting, or in Munich and you have a conference in Milan, you can take trains. In the U.S., it's not feasible, because the trains we have, other than in the Northeast Corridor, are too slow and expensive, and that ain't changing anytime soon. I have to go to places like Cincinnati and Dallas and Minneapolis and New York and a train from L.A. will never be an option. So, shame me, but I gotta fly. (Los Angeles Times)
