It'll Be Harder To Learn Reporting, But Then Again There Aren't Any Jobs For That Now Anyway
-
A lot of colleges used to have daily newspapers. Now, few do. At Cal State-Fullerton, they're considering making their daily paper a weekly, and I wonder if there'll be ANY papers, daily or weekly, left on college campuses by the end of the '20s. I'm sure many already have gone online-only. Do college students even read the online versions? In 2020, are we at a point where people don't care about what's going on their own neighborhoods and on their campuses in numbers high enough to warrant the existence of a news organization? As an alumnus of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford College News and The Villanovan, this makes me sad. (Orange County Register)
