Interesting Interpretation Of The Word 'Secret'
-
For a while, an app called Whisper was hot with teens. The app let you -- ENCOURAGED you -- to post your darkest secrets. It was supposed to be anonymous. Turns out you can find everything that was posted with the app free on the web, because they weren't exactly following tight privacy rules. And even though there was supposed to be anonymity, the material carries location and demographic information that you can cross-reference in case you want to figure out who posted it. That's not ideal, is it? But it's a lesson for everyone: There is no such thing as absolute privacy on the internet. Proceed with great caution. (Washington Post)
