How did coronavirus spread so quickly in Italy in general and Bergamo in particular? It may all be traced to, or at least the acceleration can be blamed on, one soccer match, specifically the Valencia-Atalanta Champions League match in Milan on February 19th. The match was moved to Milan because UEFA didn't want it played at Atalanta's undersized stadium, and someone in the crowd passed the virus, which spread among many of the closely-spaced fans at the game and in bars and parties watching all over the region. Every goal -- Atalanta won, 4-1 -- resulted in fans hugging and kissing and high-fiving, and no goal celebrations have ever had a worse result. (AP)
