No Time For Luddites
-
This report is about the older Americans who are finding it difficult to deal with the pandemic because they're not digitally literate. In an age when information is disseminated online, bills are paid electronically, and, when you can't leave your house, human social connection is made via Zoom and Skype and Facetime, but you can't even figure out your phone, that's going to make things rough. But I wonder how many people this actually represents, because there's plenty of evidence that seniors are a lot more adept online than they used to be. And the article itself notes several instances of how seniors ARE managing to use devices to maintain social contact, and how there are simplified solutions and both free and paid help available.
