Richard Branson wants a loan from the U.K. government to bail out Virgin Atlantic airlines and is willing to put up his private island in the Caribbean as collateral. He's looking for £500 million. On the one hand, the company employs a lot of people and provides needed competition to British Airways. On the other hand, a rich guy looking for a bailout of any kind is a little annoying. Can't he pay for it himself without taxpayers having to fund it? (The Guardian)
