Once again, this SHOULD be one of the major issues of the 2020 election, and I fear it'll get lost in the usual shinier-object-chasing: The pandemic is highlighting the folly of making health insurance dependent on your employment. You lose your job, you lose your insurance. And without a job, good luck affording COBRA or even exchange insurance. Your survival should never be tied to your employment. Ever. The U.S. is the only major nation that does this, and it's failing at a time it can't afford to fail. If you've been one of the many talk radio people railing about socialism when the idea of Medicare for All comes up, maybe you should explain to your listeners why it's better that they face the loss of medical coverage in the middle of a pandemic if their jobs go away.
