Yeah, I Know, You'll Volunteer To Help Them Get Rid Of It
-
The headlines have gone to farmers who have had to throw out food and dairy because of glut that they can't easily transport or donate to food banks. That's actual news. It's less newsy that the same thing is happening to craft brewers, some of whom are throwing out barrels of perfectly good beer because their bar and restaurant clients aren't open. They can't store the stuff indefinitely and they can't sell it to individuals... or can they? Some breweries that normally don't sell directly to the public and don't do bottles or cans (or can't get cans, which are in short supply) are trying alternative packaging -- bags with spouts! Plastic milk jugs! -- to sell smaller amounts to those who want it. So check with your local craft breweries and see if they want to get the word out about alternative ways to get better beer in the pandemic. (New York Times)
