Can We Just Not Think?
-
The headline reads, "To Build Resilience in Isolation, Master the Art of Time Travel," but what they mean by that isn't actual Mr. Peabody action. No, it's about thinking about when things were "normal" or what they'll be like in future, better times. Have you been doing that? Because they say it helps -- it's called "counterfactual thinking" and psychologists think pleasant thoughts like that in the face of the exact opposite help humans to cope. How's that workin' for ya? It just makes me more stressed thinking abiut what we've lost and what we might be losing for good. (New York Times)
