This article is about one scientist's bizarre brain malfunction: At the age of 60, he was no longer able to process and understand the digits 2 through 9. He only sees a jumble of lines, not the numbers. They've tested and tested and it may be related to the brain disease that leaves sufferers unable to recognize faces, but they aren't sure. The cool thing is that he needed a few more years to retire, and they figured out that giving him "surrogate digits" -- alternate symbols to represent 2 through 9 -- worked, and so they did. (CTV)
