Someone Else's Money
-
It's hard to defend corporate America when you hear how, under the late Aubrey McClendon, Chesapeake Energy, the fracking giant that just filed for bankruptcy, flushed billions and billions of money down the toilet on things like $110 million for two parking garages, a wine collection in a cave hidden in the corporate office, season ticket packages to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and a campus with bee keepers, botox, and chaplains for employees. They spent and spent, and I'm sure the money never quite made it down to the average employee. The new CEO insists he'll fix this, but for every Chesapeake Energy the financial shadiness about which you find out, there are many companies that are directing cash into the CEO and executives' pockets and not into salaries and benefits. That should anger you. (CNBC)
