The coin shortage, of which we've spoken before, has led Kroger to join Wawa in not giving out change in coins. You can donate what you would have gotten back to a charity, or you can get it in a digital account to use on groceries later. Or you can pay in exact change. The cashless society is coming fast, but for those of us who are already not using cash, we have to remember that there's a significant number of people, largely the poor, who do not have bank accounts or plastic. They need to pay cash. That's why some cities have banned 100%-cashless stores. (CBS News)
