And The Band Didn't Exacty Play On
-
Another local, local story that might be useful regardless of the specifics is this one from my area, the apparent demise of a concert venue, a bar called Saint Rocke on PCH in Hermosa Beach that was, until the pandemic, one of the South Bay's primary music spots, roughly half cover bands, a quarter local originals, and a quarter touring acts. The owners put it up for sale and say that they can't really find a way to make it work in this situation, and you can use it to talk about whether the music ideal -- the hot, sweaty, crowded, loud bar with a rudimentary stage in the back where you could either say "I saw them when" or you could just hang out and enjoy the music -- is dead. At the very least, it's going to be a long while before anyone will feel safe in a mosh pit. (Daily Breeze, Torrance)
