A Taste Of The Rust Belt, With Added Rust
-
When I was in college and law school, Yuengling was considered cheap beer, the stuff you got when they were all out of everything else, meh at best. Then, at some point, the Pottsville-based old-school lager changed the label and marketed itself as a craft-ish beer and suddenly it was hot and fancy (and a lot pricier than it used to be). But it was at heart a southeastern Pennsylvania thing. Now, it's so popular that a deal with Molson Coors will be bringing Yuengling to the West Coast, where the folks around here will presumably think it's special. There are a lot of food and drink options that are purely regional or local that would be considered exotic if exported to other areas, from In-N-Out and Whataburger to Tastykake and Pollo Tropical. What's your area's local thing that you think would be a hit elsewhere? (KYW-TV/Philadelphia)
