I'd Rather Be A 'Comfortably Mild' Tourist
-
Summer is not over by a longshot here in California, where we have been hit with waves of extreme heat. This is, to my taste, not a good thing. But there are people who not only love it, but make it a point to experience it in the most intense way. They're "heat tourists," and they go to Death Valley in hopes of a record they can say they've experienced. But they're too chicken to REALLY experience it, so they sit in their cars WITH THE A/C BLASTING and wait to see the thermometer at Furnace Creek hit 130 degrees, so they can run out and snap a photo to prove they were there. They might sometimes do things like play golf in the heat, too, just to say they did it or to do YouTube videos. I'd stay in the A/C, myself, at least if I had A/C. Which I don't. Yet.
