A Gig's A Gig (If You're Not Burdened With A Conscience Or Anything Like That)
-
Something that's always been the case but bears repeating: When you see someone in a political attack ad and he or she is not identified, it's an actor paid to be whatever stereotype the candidate or dark money backer wants them to be. This article notes that the same actress is in Republican attack ads in three Senate races, posing as a local. I think she's also in a commercial against one of California's propositions, but I don't know for sure; she's generic. And another white-haired guy is in ads in Iowa and Kansas. But if you believe the homemaker or doctor or farmer in a political ad is really a homemaker or doctor or farmer, you've been had. Not earth-shattering, and everyone does it, but still. And it raises the topic: Would you take an acting job that might be deceptive or promote a political position with which you don't agree, just for the money? (HuffPost)
