Does The Dog Have A Noncompete?
-
A man and his former employer are in a custody battle over a bedbug-sniffing dog, and the issues here are... it's complicated, actually. The worker DID sign a piece of paper stating that the dog is the property of the employer, an exterminator. But he contends that they didn't ask for the return of the dog right away, not even though they knew he was moving away. And while the DA brought grand larceny charges against the guy, the judge has since given him temporary custody while this plays out because it's best for the dog to be in a loving household, which should be how it goes, right? The employer's attorney says this shouldn't be treated like a divorce case, but can you treat a dog as property and not a living being? (Spectrum NY1)
