You Can Get 500 Dairy Queen Cones For A Thousand Bucks. That's Plenty Of Ice Cream
-
You know that, as I do every year, I'm covering CES. And you know that every year there's a consumer product that gets a lot of attention despite being kinda pointless. And so we have this year's hot item, which we can only describe as Keurig, but for ice cream. You take a (shelf-stable) $2.99 pod, drop it in, and in 90 seconds, you get ice cream. Sounds great! But when it hits the market, it'll cost -- brace yourself -- $1,000. And the goal is to bring it down to a more reasonable $500, which is not reasonable. For $500, you can buy... well, a LOT of ice cream at the grocery. Or get a lot of ice cream delivered by GrubHub or Postmates. Or buy a regular ice cream machine that takes a long time but costs a lot less. So, calm yourself. (CNN)
