Maybe They'll Like You Better If You Use A Mac
-
You know how computers have become a part of the hiring process at many businesses, and you've known how companies large and small have used resume scanners to look for keywords to weed people out. Increasingly, however, companies are using artificial intelligence in the process, including running applicants through the kind of cognitive tests they give infants to measure intelligence -- counting dots in boxes, matching emotions to facial expressions. And if you "fail," you're out. No human even so much as looks at your qualifications until you've run the AI gauntlet. Seems unfair, but, then again, so are the human HR people, who have their own biases and have historically been unfair to women and minorities in the process, so... maybe using AI is good? Maybe, maybe not, but it's part of the process now. (BBC)
