Desperate Measures
-
Yes, it was irresponsible for the owners of a nail salon in Edmonton to rent out their shop for a huge party with about 200 attendees. It got raided by police and it was probably illegal. But the owners say they did it because they were desperate; their regular business was closed down in the pandemic and they had to pay the rent somehow. Yes, that's a story that's been played out countless times in the past year. Do you have sympathy for business owners who defied the restrictions because they thought they had to, or do you think that public health and safety should always take priority? It'll be interesting, in the future, to look back at this time and judge what people chose to do under extraordinary circumstances. (CTV)
