Never Close Enough For Rock 'N Roll

Do you know who Lee Mavers is? Years ago, he was responsible for a song you know and have heard a million times, and then he... disappeared. Oh, he didn't vanish, but his career came to an abrupt end of sorts. The song was "There She Goes," his band was The La's, they made one album, and that was it, not because they kept trying and failed, but apparently because he was such a perfectionist that he just couldn't bring himself to release anything further. Even his one hit and album were not good enough for him; the producer and label released them against his judgement, and he's been tinkering and redoing ever since, but mostly, because the song is such a standard and licensed for movies and TV, he makes enough money to just not have to do it again, preferring to search for his version of perfection while enjoying family (four kids) and ignoring what everyone else thinks.
