You've heard the story of how a janitor at Frito-Lay invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos. In fact, the guy makes motivational speech tours, wrote a book about it, and there's a movie being made about his story. One small thing, though: According to this Los Angeles Times story (which, sorry, may be under subscriber-only status), there's no evidence he invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos, In fact, a team of Frito-Lay product developers had them in testing before he allegedly suggested them to the company. One woman in particular had a lot to do with it, and she discovered that some other guy was claiming her invention was his just three years ago. If you did something notable and others took credit for it, what would you do -- just shrug and take it or fight for credit? (Los Angeles Times; subscription required)
