Maybe Sometimes Leave Things To The Pros
-
The arrest of a man accused of being the arsonist responsible for the Pacific Palisades wildfire was preceded by a manhunt prompted by the Citizen app, which sent out a photo of a guy and offered a $30,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The app had the wrong guy, and is now apologizing. But it's the dark side of Internet vigilantism, it's happened before, and it'll happen again. Remember that the next time amateur sleuths identify suspects before police have a chance to weigh in. (SFGate.com)
